Kauai, Maui or both

My fiance and I are planning a honeymoon in early September and are considering Maui and Kauai. Is it worthwhile going to both for a seven day trip? We're not too familiar with inter-island transportation. Also, price-wise is it better to book through the net or get a package deal?

Thanks

Pat,
Inter-island travel will cost you at least half a day of your honeymoon. Your decision will depend on what you and your new spouse most want to do; spend time together on sightsee. My wife and I did a four country, two week honeymoone 27 years ago in Europe. If we were to do it again, we'd spend our entire time in Kauai.

One week is too short to go to two islands. There is way more than enough to do for a week on Maui. Maui is the best.
Since you have never been there, you need the help of a travel agent. Either select one near your home, or get help by email from one on Maui, such as Kay Ryan (email [email protected]).

LOTS more info about Maui sights, activities, hotels, condos, restaurants, etc, is in the 30-page paper that you can read or print from this web site:

I just sent you a ton of info, and it never went through. Feel free to email me for further info. Let's try this again. Maui would be the better property with more to do. Look into the Wailea area, at the Grand Wailea, Four Seasons or the Kea Lani. If I knew your nightly budget I could better help you. I have sent friends to Four Seasons and they loved it - saw Arnold Schwarzenger there with his family. Very class, lots of great places to eat, etc. I have all the 1 800 numbers. Don't be afraid to call. The Four Seasons has a pay for 4, get the 5th night free rate. You need to know that this property includes in their rates, parking, fitness centre, 1 hour free snorkelling gear for 2 daily, cabana usage( 40dollars and up at other places) They truly aim to please. Laura, the girl I sent loved it. If you really want to get away you could go over to the Big Island for 2 nights and stay at the Hilton Waikoloa Village(my family's favourite property of all) or at the Princeville on Kauai. I can let you know all about getting Sheraton discounts. Interisland flying is a breeze. Phone Aloha Airlines's 1 800 number and get an idea on rates. Ask what there entertainment rate is and if it reasonable you could order one( i will tell you how)Annemarie

We have a trip booked to Hawaii this march, a week each in Maui and Kauai. I found the best selection and best price on a package deal, airline, condo, and car rental from Bali Hai Treasures. They have a web site at www.vacation2hawaii.com I spoke with Susanee Franklin and found she was "on the ball" with everything. They only do Hawaii. Good luck and good times!!

With 7 days I would go to Maui only. There is so much to do you will never be bored! Christmas of 98 we spent 7 days on Maui, 3 on Hawaii and 5 in Kauai. Maui is the island I would go back to first. We had Kay Ryan plan our activities and meet us at the airport with a lei greeting. She is first class and an expert in planning your trip. You won't regret using her services!
