Kauai in October

I am planning to spend my honeymoon at the Poipu Shores Condo, on the south side of Kauai, for 8 days. Does anyone have any info/comments on either Poipu Shores condos and/or staying on the south side? Any other condo recommendations?

Hi, Sean -

Poipu is always a nice area to stay in Kauai - you can be assured of better weather than on the North Shore, however, the North Shore is the loveliest spot on this Garden Isle so be sure to spend some time there. Just call for a weather report before you start your hour drive from Poipu to Princeville/Hanalei areas.

The Poipu Shores should be nice condos. I have seen them from the outside but not inside. We own a timeshare at Lawai Beach Resort and spend two weeks south and a week north on our visits each year. Kiahuna Plantation is a very nice spot for a condo if you have not already booked as is Whaler's Cove. Is your unit an oceanfront? That is important to us, but not to everyone so determine your priorities and go from there. Kiahuna is an oceanfront resort but some units are garden view. I think the area of the island you have chosen is a good one. You can make your base there and travel to other spots on the island.

Enjoy!

For Suzie -

Whaler's Cove is absolutely lovely. They are higher end priced units and the views are breathtaking. You sit in a small cove and are somewhat away from everyone else. Many of these units are owned by people who actually live in Kauai part of the year - so we have been told. I don't think they are marketed strenuously either because they are not solely for rental as well as that they tend to be a little pricey for some people's budget. I don't know what you are paying, but I do not think you will be disappointed in the condo or the location. Feel free to e'mail me directly if you have any other questions.

Thanks so much Karen. I really appreciate the feedback. I know they are pricey but I went through Suite Paradise and got a better rate. It's our 20th anniversary and we wanted something private and special. Looked like Whalers Cove fit the bill. Initially had reserved Poipu Kapili but saw that Whalers cove was closer to the ocean and smaller. So excited, 7 more weeks!
