Kauai Hotels - Sheraton or Hyatt
Looking for advice as to which hotel to stay at on Kauai during our honeymoon.
How is the Sheraton? I have heard the Hyatt is amazing but wondered if the Sheraton would be a good back-up if we cannot afford to stay at the Hyatt.
Thanks for any comments.

For our honeymoon in June, we are staying at the Sheraton Poipu. We are booked for an ocean front room. I have heard that it is worth it to stay in an ocean front or beach front room, but not the garden rooms. We orginally wanted to stay at the Sheraton Princeville, but it is more economical to stay at the Sheraton Poipu. We have been using the Ultimate Kauai Guidebook (Wizard Publications)to help with our planning. It has been recommended by many and the website will give you aerial views of the resorts (www.wizardpub.com).

Ann,
HYATT!!!!!!!!! We've stayed there 3 times. Sunny side of island, amazing amenities. It is worth the cost. If you are using a travel agent, they should be able to get you upgrades and a good rate. Otherwise try online and an oceview room is perfectly fine.
Also more restaurants to choose from on this side of isle.
But, don't miss out on a trip to Princeville and Hanalai.
Good Luck.

I think that the Princeville (Sheraton) is by far the best resort on the island. They Hyatt has lots of families, children and looks like a big resort. The Princeville on the other hand is quiet, luxurious, more upscale and has beautiful views of the coast.

We stayed at the Sheraton Poipu last June. We loved it. We had a beach front room. At this sheraton they will even teach you to scuba dive on the property. It was not over run with people. The help new us by name. I also got a $25 a day for food there. It is truly beautiful there. I don't have anything to compare to with the Hyatt but I loved the Sheraton and can not wait to go back. We next went to the Hilton Hawaiian Village on Wakkii and was shocked at all the people and how impersonal everyone was and we stayed in the Ali towers ocean front room I paid $400 a day for something I found terrible.
