We went there for their Luau - great luau. Great location for the hotel too - right by the Coconut Marketplace. From what I saw the pool was microscopic but they could be hiding another one somewhere I suppose. Nice tennis courts. I wasn't overly excited with the hotel - but then again I only saw a limited amount.

i stayed at the coconut hotel in 2000. i didn't care for it. The rooms look as though they were updated in the early 80s, Miami Vice era, the service left little to be desired, our air conditioner broke, as did the toilet...and finally, a box of stale cereal at breakfast. Honestly, the hotel is cheap for a reason. But, it is centrally located, and if you don't plan to lounge at your hotel, then you will be okay. This is very much a place where you get what you pay for. I bet you could find some good prices at a bed and breakfast, or at smaller places on the North Shore.

Agree w/ Wendy.

This place has gone downhill the past 3 yrs. we have been over.
I hear the luau is still OK but the restaurant, rooms and service in general are lacking. We also heard it is up for sale. Hopefully a co. with some $$$ will buy it because it was really a nice place 5-6 yrs ago.

It's Flying Lobster Restaurant used to have one of the best seafood buffet dinners I've ever had. Had a alive band playing Hawaiian music. Beautiful.
I hear that last year most of the chefs quit and went and opened up a restaurant called Lemongrass. Good restaurant. Sushi rivals Kintaro's.
Aloha,
Kal

Have seen the grounds never stayed I would condo it for the money. Can't imagine why people would go for a hotel over a condo. Many condos will rent for a few nights and this is a slow season.

it is a dive and i would rate it as
2 star. it was old property and the
room was musty. try the renovated
beachboy hotel near the coconut market
place. by all means, avoid kauai
coconut beach hotel

To xxx. I'm curious. If you can get a good hotel room for less than a condo, would you still take the condo? If so, why?

Reasons for choosing condo. over hotel, other than price:

- More room
- Kitchen
