Does anyone know of somewhere to go on Kauai for sunset cocktails with some Hawaiian entertainment? I don't mean a luau. On the BI you can go to the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel at sunset, at the bar, and have drinks and there will be some gentle Hawaiian music and dancing. Usually It's just one woman doing some of the slow story telling dancing.

Grand Hyatt Kauai lounge/bar is spectacular in the evening. Drinks are a bit expensive but you can't beat the view. They usually have some entertainment there.
Also Dukes at the Kauai Marriott is a popular spot and often has music.

Sorry, I realized how specific you were about the entertainment portion of your question.
I don't know of a place on Kauai that has a single slow moving Hawaiian dancer every night. The Radisson has a free sunset Hawaiiana show every evening but it's quite energetic with drums etc.
Most places have a guitarist singing Hawaiian ballads for the entertainment.

Last i was there, on Sunday evenings just prior to sunset the princeville hotel has a lovely, but short, hawaiian cultural performance followed by normal evening music. Most other nights there is island style jazzy music (usually with singer) there. Really pro folks there. For sunsets..ooh lala. I LOVE it.
The bar at the Poipu/Koloa Sheraton is quite a lovely location and the music we've checked out there in the past was really good! It's more upbeat though, while the Princeville is more straight-up chic and elegant.

Tuesday nights at the Happy Talk Lounge at the Hanalei Bay Resort. Lady Ipo and her group performed there this past summer. Very mellow, low key and lovely.
The Living Room at the Princeville Hotel would fit the bill also. Very nice bar atmosphere and great entertainment.
For a little more homey touch the singers/entertainers at the Tahiti Nui in Hanalei we fun.

As iamq so wisely recommended, Tuesday at Hanalei Bay Resort's Happy Talk Lounge is a great place for Hawaiian music and hula. Lady Ipo usually starts at 7pm (call the hotel to confirm the group will be performing).
The hula kahiko (ancient hula) performance at the Princeville Hotel is Sundays-only, usually at around 6pm or so. Again, call the hotel to confirm.
We who live on the northshore are blessed to have the award-winning Hawaiian music of Keli`i Kaneali`i (founding member of the group, Hapa) performing most Tuesday and Friday evenings at Tahiti Nui in Hanalei 6-9pm. And if you're _really_ lucky, his wife dances too (she was a former Miss Aloha Hula -- the ultimate hula award in the world!). Call Tahiti Nui to confirm his performance dates.
And Sunday afternoons (3pm) at Tahiti Nui brings our kupuna (elders) -- The Happy Hawaiians -- sharing their legacy of decades of Hawaiian music with everyone. This is real old-style Hawaiian -- complete with aunties getting up to dance, just for fun. Tahiti Nui now has a pizza kitchen (yum!) which is available for orders after 4pm (and yummmmmmmmmmmmmy!).
Depart Tahiti Nui on Sunday when the music is pau (finished) 'round 6pm, and walk across the highway to Hanalei Gourmet for the music of Mitsu, Sam & Isiah -- mostly Hawaiian, with some rockin' stuff thrown in, too. No dancing (no permit), but great drinks 'n food.
And I second the vote for the Hyatt's Seaview Terrace -- with the beautiful music of Leilani Rivera Bond, and dancing by the haumana (students) of her halau hula (hula school). She's usually there on Tues, Thu, Sat 6-8pm. Call the hotel for the performance schedule. The view is lover-ly!

Thanks all! Will check it out when it gets closer. End of October. Bringing family from England. They've never been to Hawaii.Doing 1/2 and 1/2 north and south shores. We loooove Kauai, but I read about something I didn't know about in the Ult. Kauai Guide book. the secret lava pools off of secret beach. Is this possible in Oct. on a good day weather wise. And how long does it take to get there from the beach and is it really hard walking, all bolders or what? Thanks again

Too funny, all these so-called "secret" places...known only to the millions who've read about them in travel articles and books!
Our winter surf conditions begin building in early September. You might get lucky and have a calm water day here and there, but please use EXTREME caution around our oceans.
Never turn your back on the ocean.
Only swim at lifeguarded beaches.
When in doubt, don't go out!
We want you to enjoy your visit, stay safe, and return again.
