Kauai - Moloa, Kilauea, Princeville

Kauai - Moloa, Kilauea, Princeville
After a lot of reading, I've decided that the North Shore is the place for us, however, i'm wondering if Moloa'a and Kilauea are "north shore" enough. Do they have the north shore feel? I've been looking at houses to rent and have found a few in these areas.
I've read many great things about Princeville but, a friend of mine said she felt is was too touristy for her. She tends to like more touristy places than us even, so I wonder if we'd like it.
i've also found some great places around the Anahola area, however, I'm not sure about the beaches during May around there.
If anyone has any houses/cottages, they have rented in these areas that you would recomment, would you let me know. We're looking for a place for two couples under $1400/week.
Can anyone help me out? Thanks!

Check out the rentals right on Hanalei Bay--looks like the duplex is in your price range. http://www.beachandbluff.com/other-houses.html the photos of the view are accurate. I haven't stayed at the duplex but did stay at the Moon Beach Cottage a few years ago.

Our beaches & surf are usually wonderful in May -- even up here on the northshore.
Moloa`a is very rural -- great for those who want to just loll on the beach there and have "down time".
Kilauea is residential (former plantation town, with a mix of older homes and scattered newer family homes). Small 7-11 type grocery store, pizza parlor, restaurant, and a couple of take-out/plate lunch places.
Princeville (where we live) is residential also -- a "planned community", with condo/timeshare areas abutting neighborhoods of large (appalling pricey) custom homes. We've also got the shopping center (large grocery store, hardward store, etc.). We're on a bluff -- the few beach-access sites involve either steep paths, or steep stairs.
Hanalei is very touristy -- lots of boutique shopping, more restaurants, and the wonderful Hanalei Bay and beach. Easy beach access.
Anahola is rural -- one small 7-ll type store on the highway, and Ono-Charburger food stand. Some parts of Anahola Beach are nice.

THE North Shore feel is in Haena.
Your budget could get you a nice simple two bedroom- maybe not right On the beach but a pleasant five minute stroll. Not at all 'touristy'- great beaches. Easy striking distance to Hanalei shops and restaurants.
Just bring the deet.
Get a nice kitchen and buy the fresh catch at Dolphin fish market, grill or sashimi, a little rice-->paradise.

Not the five minute stroll i spoke of- more like a quick car ride to the beach.
But I've thought of rangling another couple to join us at this place:

I have not stayed at, looked at, dealt with this place at all. But it looked worth a go to me. I have stayed very near here and I think you'd LOVE the location- if you like jungles and skeeters that is...
