Fakr Kate Spade bags are so popular because it's a trendy brand, but who wants to spend $300 on a very plain little nylon microfiber purse. There's nothing distinctive about the styles--slightly boxy, with webbing straps and magnetic closure--it's the label that appeals (as always), and mosy are plain black. I read a magazine story about Kate Spade a few years ago; when she startesd making her bags, no retailers would buy them until she ripped the labels out of the inside and sewed them on the outside. Then, even though she was a no-name, they loved it. They knew people like things with labels. If you want a real bag a discount, there are Kate Spade warehouse sales in New York a couple of times a year. People line up around the block for hours before they open.

Hey guys...without giving too much away, ahem, I have to tell you that the average sized Kate Spade microfiber, leather handles, is $170 full retail, not 300...Comfy under the arm or in hand, and I really don't care which way the label faces! All leather is $300.
