Kansas City to Phoenix

Two women traveling from Kansas City to Phoenix in December and looking for interesting towns to stop in along the way or any other highlights you may recommend.

How long do you plan to take for this trip, and what are your interests?

The goal is to get to Pheonix, so they just have a night or two to spend somewhere along the way. Interests are wide and vary. Art, antiques, history cool towns, hiking...

On your way across Kansas, stop at the The European BakeShop in Hartford (off I-35). http://www.kansastravel.org/europeanbakery.htm

Take US-54 west from Wichita and you will find a number of interesting small towns such as Greensburg, where so much has happened in the past 3 years. You will hook up with I-40 in New Mexico.

Santa Fe would be a logical stop, then.
