kakena - why would i be kidding? i know who bombed pearl harbor, but that was then and this is now. do the people of hawaii still hate japan or something? i know there are japanese restaurants. why wouldnt there be a little kabuki to accompany? sheesh. you should work on your netiquette.

Your question struck me as odd. You are going to a US State not Japan. I intended no reference to WWII.

There is a large Asian population in Hawaii just as there is in many US States. That population includes Asians from Japan, Korea, China, Philippines and others as well as a huge Polynesian and native islander group.

There may be a kabuki performance from time to time but I was just wondering why you think Hawaii would be the place to go for kabuki.

Most people ask about luaus which are generally associated with the islands.

I hope someone finds a kabuki company for you.

22% of Hawaii's population is of Japanese ancestry, so there are lots of Japanese restaurants, bars and even temples, but Kabuki is a fairly obscure type of theater. UH puts on a Kabuki performance periodically, but I've neve heard of one being done anywhere else in Hawaii.

kakalena - its ok. perhaps our tone doesnt always come through our written word. i live in dc and recently missed a kabuki show and though with hawaii's large asian population there might be some good kabuki there. we have already figured out the luau that we are going to. anyway, thanks for the help all. maybe we will find something while we are there.
