Kaanapali Beach/Lahaina

Where is a good place to stay in this area. There will be 3 of us, my husband, myself and our grown son. I would prefer a cottage-type place, on or very near the beach. Tennis courts would be great!
Or is there a better area on Maui to stay?
We'll be traveling during the Christmas holiday period and will plan to be in Hawaii for about 10 days. Thanks!

I don't have a specific hotel suggestion but I LOVED staying near the town of Lahaina. It's a very fun place to be able to walk around, lots of shops, galleries, restaurants, self-guided historic walking tour, shows, etc. etc.

We stayed at Lahaina Shores but that doesn't sound like what you're after.

The best places are probably already reserved for the Christmas holidays.

Not many cottages in that area. It's busy, with large hotels and condos.

We stayed at Papakea about 23 years ago but it might fit the bill. You can get a 2 bedroom / 2 bath room. It was a small complex which is what we like. You'd need a car, but I think you'd want one on Maui. Have a great trip.

We have stayed at Kaanapali Shore which is on Airport beach just north of Kaanapali beach. It's a great condo right on the beach and it has tennis courts. We had a 2 bedroom unit & the master bedroom faced the ocean. Very fun.
