Just returned from Las Vegas!!

Hi all, I was recently in Vegas for roughly 5 days over the July 4th holiday weekend. It was my first trip to Vegas. I also turned 26!

Left BWI midday on Thurs for roughly 6 hr flight to LAS on Southwest. There was no wait at check in, security at BWI and flight on SWA was very smooth. Once arrving at LAS, the wait was around 40 min for the luggage to spit out. I also had a very hard finding the "Park place" desk for folks who have reservations for Ballys, Caesars, Paris, etc and can get checked in and get room key all right there at airport. It was all covered up by construction and plastic going on in the main terminal. So if you see a big wall of plastic its on the other side all by itself!! I did rent a car from Budget, the whole trip was only 100 bucks for a 4 door 2004 sentra. I stayed at Ballys and its most convienant to park at Paris hotel/casino garage. I stayed in Ballys north tower which isnt close to the strip but suppose to be the newly remodeled. It was nice to go directly to the room w/ my key and avoid the line at hotel check in. The room was very large and clean w/ 2 queen size beds. The bathroom was nice and filled with all the good quality tissue, soap, etc. Only thing I didnt like about the room was the shower curtain hung kinda low and i hate getting the bathroom floor wet! Ballys is in a very good location, right across from Bellagio. There is a pedestrian bridge going across the strip and Flamingo Rd at the intersection right there, makes things alot easier. One thing I really noticed in Vegas, great customer service and everyone works for their tips. In Maryland, people just expect a tip w/o any given effort. I was glad to tip out there, waiters went out of their way to make sure you had everything, the hotel staff too. Casinos didnt really enforce kids or even people under 21 on casinos floors or drinking...I saw that alot. Maybe it was because it was a holiday weekend. It took 4 days to explore not even half of vegas!

Some key things not to miss,

*Fountains at Belliago
*Eiffel Tower
*Paris breakfast Buffet, try to go before 830a
*Hoover Dam, try to drive if possible and arrive first thing ahead of tour buses and crowds and rub toes of angels feet for good luck! Worked for me!
*Red Rock Canyon, great scenic drive
*Ballys Steakhouse, good food and service, avg dinner for 2 was around 100.00
*M&M's world ( love M&Ms )
*Luxor - I highly recommend Blue Man Group show and hang around in hallway afterwards to get some pics and autograph
*NY/NY - Zumanity was OK but not the best. I did have front row love seat which made it better.
*Krispy Kreme freshly made at Venictian is very good esp if you dont one near your house!!!

I cant wait to go back and wish everyone going there soon a good time. I hope the grammer is fine, no spell check on this thing!

Can you give me an idea on seats for Zumanity? We want the love seats/duo sofas but I don't want to be too close to the show and risk being pulled in. What do you think?

Honestly, the closest seats are the best. Only 2 people (1 man, 1 woman) from audience got pulled up near end to participate in some "orgy" scene. haha They didnt sit in front row, perhaps a few back. They clearly state, if your picked and dont want to go up just tell them and they will leave you alone. The theatre itself really isnt big, its very small and intimate. The seats really wrap around the stadium. The love seats are really comfy but they are all in the back. Only the duo-couches are up front near the stage and sold in pairs. I sat in Row ZZ (1st row of reg seats) and they were pretty comfy and decent. Have u seen the seating charts and whats avail for when your going online at zumanity.com? thats where i picked my seats and booked. dont wait til the last minute!

bluestructure, sounds like you had fun. i was interested in your comment about minors on the casino floor and drinking. as someone who lives in nevada (not las vegas thank goodness) i find that really hard to believe. there of course could be someone there and they could get away with being on the floor for a time but in the long run, if they are in fact underage...did you card them? LOL...they will be found out and asked to leave. it's just that every square inch of the casino floor is covered by cameras and there are people up above monitering those cameras 24/7. there is very little that is missed. the other thing is, the gaming control board frowns on under age people on the casino floor and the fines can be huge and in some cases, if it became a regular thing, the casino's gaming license would be pulled. my ex-husband works at the silver legacy in reno and every move he makes is recorded on film along with everyone elses moves.

bluestructure, which hotels did you see the minors drinking in ?
I have to agree with crefloors .. I have been going to Las Vegas for years and I remember being carded myself, for just standing behind someone at a blackjack table. I have never seen anyone that looked too young drinking or gambling, those casinos stand to lose millions if they have a problem and they don't need that sort of problem.
We have been staying at the Bellagio the last few times we have visited LV and I have to say that they are tough on people with young kids even walking through the carpeted part of the casino, instead of on the tiled floor where you sort of walk past all the slot machines and tables. They really have been discouraging kids in a few of the casinos lately.
