Just back from NYC-loved it!

We just returned this morning from NYC (my mother's day gift) What a wonderful experience and to think it took me 35 years to get there! Thanks for all the great advice from this board. We stayed at a great hotel called The Belvedere, super location and walked everywhere. I'd highly recommend this hotel for a 3-4 starish hotel. We also saw the play "Oklahoma" and "The Producers"...enjoyed them both very much. I can't tell you where we ate, it was all great and we ate often. We ate at top notch restaurants as well as great pizza and hot dogs from street vendors. I really loved the whole city and the people could not have been any nicer. I can't wait to return someday! A real dream come true! Jean (mother of 5 who needed some r & r)

I went to NY over the weekend also. My nephew and I went to the Tribeca Film Festival. We stayed at the Grand Hyatt (got a 75.00 room through Priceline). The lobby was nice, but the room standard--more like a 3 star not 4 star. Still a good deal for the money. We went to a concert in Battery Park on Friday to see Sheryl Crow, Robin Williams, David Bowie and several other performers. Then went to a Breakfast Panel discussion at Tribeca Grill on Saturday. I can't report on the food at Tribeca Grill because it was mostly bagels, danish, etc. They had a Family festival on Greenwich Street that began Sat. morning. I didn't have any kids with me, but the kids I saw there looked like they were having a great time. Saturday afternoon we saw "The Dangerous lives of Altar Boys" at the United Artist theater. The film is not what the name implies (given the current situation in the Cathoic Church.) It will be released sometime in June. It was great. See it if you get a chance-especially if you went to Catholic School in the 1970's. We ate a bagel shops and cheapo places so nothing to report there. The festival was well organized, informative, and entertaining. I would go back again!

Jean, Where did you buy your tickets for The Producers and Oklahoma? Did you get them there for 1/2 price or did you order them far in advance or? Thanks, Ben

Ben,
We obtained tickets for both plays on ebay.com Our trip was not planned very far in advance but both sets of theater tickets were great seats (without scalper prices) and purchased far in advance....both were couples with plans to go to NYC themselves but had to cancel for whatever reasons....their loss was our gain! Jean, anymore feedback on your hotel choice...The Belvedere? I'd love to hear the good and the bad. Louise
