Just back. Edison Hotel and Lion King

We just returned from NYC and had a great time. Two mothers showing their 5 daughters the city. We were very happy with our stay at the Edison Hotel. It was clean, warm, safe, friendly and right in the center of the theater district. We walked everywhere--and the tree was still up at Rockefeller Center!!
Lion King was wonderful. Get tickets, if you can. We bought ours a year ago. John's Pizza was very good and fun. We saw some stars and got half price tickets for Saturday Night Fever at TKTS. In all it was a great time. One mistake was eating at TGI Friday's--very expensive for what you get.

My husband and I are going in June--we got tickets to Lion King in Oct. What did you pay for a night at the Edison?? How much lead time do I need for reservations??

I've read on this forum in the past about summer discounts at some hotels. Can anyone give me more info??

We paid $160/night for three people in the room at the Edison. For the location, service, etc. we think that was reasonable. We made reservations about three months in advance. Ask for any discounts: summer, AARP, AAA. I always ask for whatever discounts are available. The people we talked to were very helpful.

I just made reservations for this Saturday and was quoted $125 with my husband's airline discount. The regular price was $144. Parking is $24 per day. I too request discounts when possible. I'm glad to hear good notes about this hotel as it will be our first time there. Been to the Best Western Presidental Hotel on 48th street, but they were booked for Saturday. For Sunday I got a quote of $93.00 (no discount).

I got the room last year for $145 a night. The a/c didn't work, it was warmer then. There is no room service and when I got a sandwich at the cafe downstairs the turkey and bread were stale. Very crowded, but the check in and out was very smooth. Room was okay, overall I'd stay there again, but not without room service.
