July 4th in Denver

Can anyone suggest where my family can see fireworks in Denver on the 4th of July?

I tried to get tix for the Rockies game but they are sold out.

Thanks!

What part of Denver are you staying in? The July 4th game is very popular and sells out early in the spring. There will be a number of places that have fireworks on the 3rd.

Usually the Rapids soccer team offers a family rate which includes hot dog and soda, plus fireworks after the game.

That is true but that is half way to Boulder. That is why I asked where they will be in Denver.

If you're able to get out of Denver a little ways, almost every suburb has their own fireworks show. Many of them occur in the area of their largest city park or recreation center site. And many of them have activities at those sites starting early in the afternoon. Some even have parades in the morning.

I'm kind of partial to the fireworks in Thornton. They're held at the Thornton Rec Center Park at about E. 120 Ave & Colorado Blvd. There's food vendors, a huge field to throw footballs & frisbees. Some years skydivers land in the field trailing red, white and blue smoke behind them, and for about an hour and a half before the fireworks the Longmont Symphony Orchestra plays showtunes and patriotic music from a stage set up at the west end of the park. Some years they even play through the fireworks display that erupts from behind the stage at about 9:30 p.m.. Bring a blanket &/or lawn chairs, and don't be afraid to wear your red, white & blue.

fmpden, I forgot the Rapids have their own stadium now. Where is it? We used to see them at Mile High.

There are great fireworks displays in the mountains, too, if you're so inclined. Or Boulder usually has one in Folsom Field on the CU campus.

I believe the Rapids play in the Stapleton area... off Quebec north of I-70 near the airport? (I think it is called "dicks sporting goods park".

Also, anywhere in downtown Denver you'll see Coors field and the fireworks.

Do they have fireworks over 16th street mall?... As they do on NYs eve?

Julia you are correct. I was thinking of the Bloomfield Center off of 36. The Rapid stadiium on the SW corner of the old Arsenal around 60th Ave, in Commerce City. The Raoid do have a July 4th home game. There are no 16th St Mall fireworks. You certainly can hang around the outside of Coors Field but the big problem is that you don't know when there are going to start. A couple years an extra inning game delayed the start until midnight or later.

This is my Friday rant thought. Debbledana posts a question on the 18th. We try to help here but there is no response on her part. Why am I wasting my time trying to be helpful when she obviously isn't interested in the answer.
