Joseph, OR

Will be staying 3 or 4 nights in Joseph in September. Wondering if anyone has a preference of staying in Joseph or at the other end of the lake near the state park. Will not be camping. Prefer cabin or condo

I assume you're cooking? I'd say near the SP, since I assume you're going to spend most of your time doing outdoors activities.

But I suppose it would really come down to the rental. I'd pick whichever I liked more. I don't think location matters that much in Joseph.

The lake is gorgeous, so if you were undecided, I would lean toward being near the lake/state park. But if those properties were more expensive or not what you wanted, you are still very close in town.

By the way, be sure to stop to see Old Chief Joseph's grave.

I agree with the other two posters. I would opt for closer to the park, unless your lodging of choice is more in town. You can't go wrong either way and it isn't far, so I wouldn't worry about this. Have fun, this is such a great hiking area!
