Well, back at home, that is. I just heard from Jetset. She is back from her biking trip from Anchorage to Fairbanks. Sounds like she had a fabulous trip! What a great place to go on a bicycle tour, huh?!

She is busy writing full time now and still keeping up her fitness level [obviously ] She's also busy with family businesses in the US and Eurasia. Plus, we all know what a neat gal she is!!! I will really miss her here on Fodor's but I can appreciate that her time will be much more limited now. BUT I know we'll all look forward to "seeing" her when she CAN drop in.

Thanks for the update, BayouGal. And I'm glad to see your name on this board today. No need to let that bone head from the WV thread drive you away.

late-breaking news....jetset is coming to Hawaii! Yep, me and my big mouth, "Come on over, your welcome here anytime, you can even train for the Ironman" So with a quick consultation with her hubby and after a few too many bailey's and amaretto, she got a great fare on Expedia and OH S**T! jetset is coming to Hilo! Guess I'd better sweep out the greenhouse! Bayou, saddle up them gators and come on over too! While jet is sweating to the oldies on her bike ride down the crater, we can be sucking up the mai-tais! Come on Bayou, there's room in the greenhouse for you too! So now I've got to make reservations for the Mauna Lani or the Hilton (kamaaina discount, save 50%!) What a trip report that'll be! Better start stocking up on the rum and pineapple wine. What fun we're going to have!

You know what, Mat, we are empty nesters now--my baby is 18, and since I am an unemployed nurse practicioner (my hospital lost in Katrina and I'm not rushing back to a new hospital or teaching just yet), I think I just might do that!!! I'll phone you and J later today (later CST, that is, and a more reasonable time in Hawaii and Alaska.)
