You better book SOON! Jazz Fest rooms are sold months in advance. Try the Royal Sonesta.

I like the Holiday Inn on Royal Street. It's on the edge of the French Quarter, but it's also a quick walk to the Trolley Car (to go up St. Charles) and a walk to the casino, waterfront, etc. Plus, you can grab a cab really easily to Jazz Fest. Better act fast, though...rooms sell out MONTHS in advance for jazz fest

Envy, envy! You will have a great time at the Fest, as long as you pace yourself. After an entire day of music, food, and beverage at the fairgrounds, you will need to retire to your room for a cooling-out period before hitting the French Quarter. Try to find a hotel with a courtyard pool- very refreshing for soaking the feet while enjoying a beverage. My personal preference is to be a bit back from the main drag of the Quarter; we have enjoyed the Hotel Ste. Helene on Chartres St.- a handy walk to Bourbon St. Another word of advice- when tickets come on sale, think hard about the evening performances. The ones in concert venues can be a bit much- especially if you've had a full day outdoors. The riverboat concerts are OK, but the sound is not that stellar. Save $$ for the fairgrounds and hitting the clubs- many bands book during that time, so it's a great extension of the music experience. If you can, go to the fairgrounds on Thursday (if it is scheduled) and Friday- the crowds on the weekend, especially the closer, can be amazing. Have a wonderful time!
