Jammer Bus Tours
We are planning a trip to Glacier Nat'l Park.
I have seen some information on the Jammer Tours but don't know exactly how they work. Some of the tours indicate that the tours last 8 hours or more. If anyone has experienced these tours, can you tell me if they are a stop and go type thing where you get off the bus at certain points to do some walking/hiking, have lunch etc. If the tour is one long ride I guess I would pass. The brochures are not very specific. Is this a good way to see the highlights of the park on a one day visit?
Thanks,
JIM

I did the jammer bus when we were in Glacier. We left from Many Glacier hotel in the morning and were probably back about 3:00. I think it's an excellent way to tour the park and you will get great views from the open top. We did make a few stops and were able to get out and take pictures. We also stopped at one of the lodges for lunch and walking around time. I don't think you'll be sorry you took the tour.

We stayed at Swiftcurrent on the east side of the park. We took the red bus tour that went to Lake McDonald for lunch. It made for a very nice day and lets you see Going to the Sun Road without the stress of driving it. They stopped at several points along the way. It was most of the day.
If you're curious, here's a link to pictures from our tour.

I can't answer your last question. It does give you a good look at some of the park. If you only have one day, I'd do something else and drive myself across the GTTSR.
If you look at our pictures, you can go up from there and see several other pictures too. The 3 mile r/t hike to Hidden Lake overlook is spectacular and may let you see mountain goats up fairly close. Its at Logan Pass.

Jim,
We did the jammer bus tour a few years ago. Everyone from my mid-70s parents to my 12 year old nephew just loved it. Much better to relax and enjoy the scenery rather than having the driver have to concentrate on the road - and concentrate puts it mildly.
We took the one that started in the afternoon (I think it was about 1pm), had a dinner stop at Many Glacier and were back around 7:30 pm. That was at the beginning of Aug when it is light very late!
Highly recommend, but take your hat and sunscreen - open top gets you lots of sun!
