A very interesting thread on misspellings and misusing words on the European forum:

And by the way, if anyone thinks a spell-check function will eliminate all their message errors, think again. Many of the things that frustrate us are words spelled properly but used improperly -- something the spelling check will never find. Granted, there are words like seperate or definate that could be caught.
A year or two ago, I was chastised by some Fodors regulars for pointing out to a poster that his/her message included some misspelt words. Now I find that lots of Fodorites are becoming as irritated as I have been with the atrocious spelling.
Maybe I'll go back to my criticisms of bad usage and bad spelling. I'll have to masticate on that.

IMHO it is not the bad grammar or the incorrect words, or the words that are not spelled correctly that annoy and bother me.
What I do find very irritating is when some posters get mean and rude and think it is clever to put someone down.
Thank goodness they are in the minority.

< om-lette u have it ! >
…and I no doubt deserve it! LOL
I am somehow reminded of an episode while attending a conference in downtown Chicago. A greeter was sent downstairs to the lobby of the Amoco building to meet our group and escort us upstairs. We lined up to shake hands and exchange greetings as we entered the building. With good fun, I did a royal job of twisting things as I approached her.
She looked at me, extended her hand, and with a smile said, “You’re a gourd.”
“‘Scuse me?”
“You’re a gourd…”
Continuing with my ruse, I said, “Aw c’mon! I know I’ve put on a few pounds, but…”
“No!” She put her hand to her mouth to contain her laughter, then exclaimed, “My name is Eura Gorde!” ….but I knew that…
~ with apologies to Eura.

It's foliage not "foilage" unless you're wrapping trees in aluminum foil. And as others have noted, it's itinerary, not "itenary" or any of the other 100 variations. And although Fodors is not as yet audio, if you find yourself about to say "realator" instead of "realtor" , best be in the next county where I can't hear you.
