OOh I am sooooooo excited! Thanks to everyone's responses. Janisj Yes I found both SF accoms on the same web. So ok King George is best location just hope it is an ok place I guess, but would love other recommendations too if you could!! Budget if possible. And Janisj do you think picking up car at the end of SF is a good idea (rather than beginning??) I know parking fees can be exhorbitant. Can't recall now if KGeorge had free parking. I am still deciding about accom in LA area, Anaheim is already sorted I think (Ho Jos) On another thread I am also watching, I have found an apartment on the miracle mile on 400 sth detroit st for a good price. I am just making sure it is legit! Any accom suggestions out there?? For any of our stops?? Thank you everyone..I love this!! Janisj you're a legend!!

A legend - Moi? Thanks! But there are lots of others w/ good info who can help you too.

Yes - definitely collect your car as you are leaving SF -- or possibly the night before if you want to start out early to YNP.

As for other hotel recommendations, what is your budget?

Hotel budget is $150 max! I have found loads of really great (I hope)hotels in other parts for well under this but I seem to find that San Fran is a little more pricey. I would prefer air con as several reviews mention hot rooms and noisy areas when the window is opened. I wondered if June would be warmish and air con needed. Doesn't need to be flash at all, just clean and in good location...you know 4 star for 1 star price ...hehehe..Any suggestions would be fantastic. See we found an apartment in LA near Beverly Hills for about $130pn and it seems really lovely

June can be warm, or June can be foggy and freezing! If you're staying "in-town", of course, A/C would help to reduce "city noise" (although almost noone who lives here has air-conditioning). I can't recall whether you will have a car, but if you will have a car in San Francisco (there are areas that are much much easier to get to by car than by public transportation, although everything is doable by public transportation), then you should probably think about the motels on motel row (Lombard Street area) that have free parking -- for example, the Columbus Motor Inn (not touting that particular one, as I live here so don't stay in hotels here). They're also very close to two "neighborhoods" (Union Street and Chestnut Street) both of which are upscale residential neighborhoods with plenty of shopping, eating, people-watching etc.

janisj has given you a great itinerary, but I'm not sure what you're going to do with a 4yo in Las Vegas for three days. It will be really hot and you can only walk through the casinos with kids.

I may have missed it, but if you haven't made your reservations in Yosemite, do so immediately. It books up really quickly.

I would highly recommend the Columbus Motor Inn in SF. Very spacious, reasonably priced, within walking distance of Fisherman's wharf and right on a cable car line.

Yes Lee Ann I can understand why you ask about a 4 yold in Vegas but we are not interested in gambling actually and want to take advantage of the free mini shows etc and attractions Vegas has to offer. We arrive in from Australia very late on the first night and we will obviously be very tired so will not be up to full speed on that first day. I just thought we would need 2 days to look around but I am obviously the novice here. How hot would you expect perhaps Vegas to be in early June?? By the way, we were very fortunate to secure a tent cabin in Yosemite for 2 nights ..very excited! I really appreciate any thoughts or suggestions so keep them coming please!! It is fabulous! Thanks djmur for tip re Columbus. I am still attempting to narrow this down.

just a couple of quick responses -- its getting late here . . .

"How hot would you expect perhaps Vegas to be in early June??

Normally - very. Depends on the year, but June will often be around 105-110+F during the day

"By the way, we were very fortunate to secure a tent cabin in Yosemite for 2 nights"

That's terrific!
