Italian restaurants in Boston

Hello, All. I will be in Boston October 26-29. I get in very late on the 26th, so we really only have two evenings open for dinner. Friday night we are eating at No. 9 Park, and we would like to eat at an Italian restaurant on Saturday night. I currently have a reservation at Stella, but I was wondering if Lucca or Mamma Maria would be a better choice. Any feedback on those options? Or would you recommend something else entirely? Thanks in advance for any advice!

Both Stella and Lucca are very good. Stella is in the South End however, while Lucca is in the Italian North End. I guess it would depend on the neighborhood you want to eat in. If you haven't been to the North End before I think it's worth a trip.

Mamma Maria is good but the wine list is crazy expensive. I think the lowest bottle was $40. Do you want Northern Italian or Southern? For Northern I would highly recommend Sage in the North End. For Southern I've heard Carmen to be quite good, also in the North End.

If you'd like to visit the North End, I like Carmen and Sage. Outside of the North End I like Stella and Via Matta. None of these are traditional Italian restaurants. I consider them all more upscale.

those mentioned are all excellent choices. Aside from Lucca, Sage we also enjoy Rabia's and Prezza
