Islamorada or Marathon
My husband and I are looking for a laid back, quiet get away the end of January, beginning of February. He would like to do some fishing on the flats and maybe some deep sea fishing. Can some one tell us of a
little resort that will fill our needs? We are looking for a kitchenette type, close to the ocean. We really want something small.Thanks for the help. Lu

Hi Lu,my wife and I have a secret little place that we stay at in Islamorda.It's on the ocean,jusy a small mom&pop motel with some efficiencies or rooms for let.The place has a pool(ocean front),it's clean,quiet and laid back.It has a boat ramp,if you have a boat or charter fishing is near by.I sit out by the pool in the evening and fish from the dock while seated on a lounge chair and enjoy the famous Florida Keys sun set.The place is called the Drop Anchor Inn,I don't have the number handy, but if you can't find it "e" mail me and I'll get it for you.Remember this place is my secret spot so don't tell !! Check out The Moorings. Very quiet and nice, on the eastern side. Very good reviews.

The Cheeca lodge is somewhat Upscale but very nice. Islamorada is closer to Miami then Marathon, I don't know marathon, except its bigger then islmorada. Go in Feb. the water will be a little warmer. Islmorada is the sport fishing capital of the world. There is a great spot just over the bridge at approx mile marker 74 or 75. Don't remembeer the name but you can rent kayaks and boats there. It's on the southern side of the bridge on the west. 100+ Tarpon show up which you can feed...some over 100lbs. The loral lei is a great spot for sunset dinners. Very laid back.. eat right on the beach.

The Chesapeake is not a small place, but it is Wonderful. They have a website. They also have kitchenettes. Very clean,landscaped beautifully. They have 3 pools, a lagoon to swim in or the beach. They also have boats leaving for fishing right on the premises. Very quiet and the staff is unbelievably nice and helpful. Check it out.
