Is TKTS booth ever closed?

I know I've read somewhere on one of these posts that the Broadway shows take one day off a week, I just can't remember what day that is. Will someone please fill me in??

I'm planning a trip and am hoping to fit in at least one more show--either on a Sun. or Tues. evening. If the shows run on Sundays, is the Tickets booth open in the World Trade Center that day? How about the one in Times Square? I would prefer to have my tickets before we get to the city, (am checking playbill.com regularly) but we will visit the booths as a last resort.

Thank you all!!

tks is closed monday (no broadway shows that day). Tks opens several hours before each afternoon or evening performance to sell discounted (cash only!!!)tickets to the next performance.

First of all, I believe the previous poster is incorrect. There are Monday evening performances for a few shows, and thus, I think, the TKTs booth is open seven days a week!
However, she is correct is stating that the booth opens several hours before performance times--at 10 a.m. on matinee days (Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday) and either 2 or 3 p.m. (I forget which) for evening performances.
Normally, you can only buy tickets for the next performance (i.e., only matinees at the 10 a.m. booth opening, and only the evening performance at the 2 or 3 p.m. opening). The only exception is on Sunday, when you can buy tickets for both afternoon and evening performances when the booth opens in the morning.
As for finding tickets on playbill website, it's getting to the busy season, so your choices there will be diminishing from what they have been during the winter.

If you go to citysearch.com for NY, they have a link to tkts so you can see what's there that pm.

While Debra's advice is good, keep in mind that as curtain time approaches, some shows send over unsold tickets at the last minute.

Andrea: My recollection is that the TKTS booth in the World Trade Center is closed Sundays but they accommodate tickets for Sunday shows by selling them on Saturday. The TKTS booth in Times Square is open Sundays. You cannot get tickets to Sunday shows on Saturday in the Times Square location, only at World Trade Center.

Most theatres are dark on Monday nights.
