Well, if you're going to ostracize Hawaii, I agree that the Rat in Orlando should get his own board ... as should Gatlinburg, TN. Give me some time and I'll be able to come up with some some places that need to be separated from the rest ... Ciao.

Maybe there are more travel agents and tour promotors who make money by pitching the commercialized tourist traps like Hawaii, Vegas and WDW, so we see the same old tired headings round the clock: "Getting Married in Hawaii," "Which Hotel in Orlando," "Which Hotel in Vegas" etc...etc...All they ever talk about are hotels, restaurants, paid activites and tours, never the free things to do or places to hike. Then again, they don't make money promoting things like free hiking spots, do they?

I agree that Hawaii needs a separate board. I'm interested in many places in the US, but get frustrated when I have to scroll through so many on Hawaii.
For those going there, there's a definite need for info, but let the rest of us just meander through the other 49 states.

I can't believe that a person can actually get frustrated scrolling down through the titles. I can accept that people get frustrated when the title lacks a location and they get into the post and find it's for a place they are not interested in, but scrolling, come on you must be pulling my leg.

"Hi!!!! My name is Candy and my fiance' and are totally confused by all of the wonderful tour choices for our upcoming Hawaiian honeymoon! Please help!!!!"
(Yes, I get REALLY tired of Hawaii posts too. A separate board works well for those of us in Canada. Why not Hawaii?)

At the time this post was started there definitely WAS an unusual number of posts on Hawaii. I know, because it was so ridiculous I went back up and counted. 16 of the first 20 posts dealt with Hawaii. That's really unusual, but I guess it can happen and I didn't get bent out of shape about it. What really gets me is someone posting a bazillion questions separately, as in:
"Best pool in Vegas?"
"Best child-friendly hotel in Vegas?"
"Favorite restaurants in Vegas?"
"Taxi or limo in Vegas?"
If someone can't do any reseach at all on their own they may as well hire their friendly neighborhood travel agent and relax a little.
I think now that summer plans are underway there are just a lot more posts in general. I'm planning a trip to Boston and I've seen quite a few helpful posts dealing with that destination, whereas a few months ago it was rare. Boston just isn't a place people flock to in the winter. FL and HI and Vegas are year-round destinations and we see posts about those places all the time.

Been to Hawaii. Everything costs a fortune. Nothing is free. It IS a tourist trap, especially for those East Coast Americans with visions of tropical splendor. Hawaii is developed, commercialized and populated with people whom earn their living from the money that tourists spend there. No wonder it's constantly promoted on a travel site like this one.
People who try to convince you otherwise want to sell you something.
