Is this a good route?

My wife and I are starting to plan a fly-drive vacation to the North-West.
Having been to Yellowstone and surrounding areas, we thought it might be a good trip from Spokane via Kalispell,Missoula,Helena,Bozeman,Billings,Thermop olis,Buffalo,Sundance to Rapid City and back to the UK.
We're a little unsure whether this route suitable for seeing the best sights in these states or how much time to allow at some of these places.
Would very much appreciate any input.

On your previous trip did you take in Glacier NP and the Canadian Rockies? If not Iwould definetly drop Buffalo, sundance and Rapid City in favor of the above...That being said, the Badlands of South Dakota are pretty cool! Try to be there around sunset or sunrise..awesome shadows. Don't forget to stop in Wall, SD for your free ice water.

I would also go to mapquest.com and check your miles between these points...your covering a big piece of real estate in this trip.

Have fun!

Forget going to Wall, it's a big nothing.

You haven't stated how long you plan to take to do this but I have to agree with the above posters. That is a HUGE section of country you have planned to tour.

Many thanks for the above.
We were thinking of 3 weeks touring.
It's interesting that you mention the Canadian Rockies, Scott. We were definitely going to take in Glacier NP but you've got us thinking about diverting into Canada.

When considering the Canadian Rockies take a look the route up the Western side...much more interesting that the typical route from Calgary into Banf. The Western side has several other National Parks that may be of interest to you. Two lodges that we stayed at were from the old railroad days: Emerald Lake Lodge and my favorite Storm Mountain Lodge.

Have Fun!
