Is the Ritz worth it?
We will be visiting New Orleans in early April and thought it would be fun to stay at the Ritz. The prices are discounted somewhat, but they are still pricing out at about $50 - $60 more per night than other good choices we are considering such as JW Marriott, Rennaissance Pere Marquette, Omni Royal Orleans etc.
So... is the Ritz worth it or are we better off staying at one of these other recommended choices? All 4 hotels are supposedly nice and near the quarter, so other than that, we are looking for biggest rooms possible (3 in a room) and overall experience.

I have stayed at the Ritz, as well as Le Meridien (which is now the JW Marriott). Of the two, the Ritz is very elegant, especially in its public spaces, and with service that far surpasses most other hotels in town. However, if your principal concern is the size of the room, I understand that standard rooms at the Ritz Carlton are smaller than the others. (But I got very lucky and was upgraded to a suite when we stayed, so I can't really say much about the standard room size....)
