Is Newport Beach good for families?

It has been so long since I have been to Newport, I'm sure a lot has changed. But now I'd like to take my family there for a week long vacation and I'm wondering about the rental home locations? Is it better to stay toward balboa pier or newport pier? How's the weather in July? Thanks

Newport Beach is alive and well. All of the beach towns are great. The weather should be pretty good. You may have a marine layer in the morning but it will burn off. The big change is the rents. It ain't going to be cheap but then rents have gone up everywhere. You may be a little late to find what you want for this July.

Brian:

As indicated above, your destination may be dictated by what is available. The Times Classifieds had a few Newport/Balboa rentals listed today. If you can get your hands on a copy of the Orange County Register, you'll probably get a pretty good feel for price and availability.

I would choose the Laguna area instead -- far more beautiful on the eyes!!

And you don't think Balboa Pier and Newport Pier are crowded?!? Get real!! My vote is STILL for the entire Laguna area!

I found a little 2BR on 27th St. near Newport Pier. Is this a good location? Restaurants, activities?
