Interesting stop between Orlando and The Villages

Hi all,

Hubbie and I are having a romantic weekend in Orlando while Grandma watches the baby in the Villages.

We will be driving back to the Villages - hopefully at a somewhat leisurely pace.
Anyone have any ideas about an interesting stop along the way. Maybe a taste of old Florida with a nice spot for lunch?

Thanks!

Check out Mt. Dora. It is definitely Old Florida and would be a great place to stop for lunch.

Have to totally agree with Orlando_Vic. Mt. Dora would be right on your way. Check out the lakeside inn for lunch.

What area you are staying in will determine the best route back. "Orlando" is a huge area! I think the Yahala Bakery (http://www.yalahabakery.com/) is a great place and a fun outdoor eating place....great German baloney sandwich! You could also make a stop at Lakeridge Winery (http://www.lakeridgewinery.com/). These are both more to the west side of your travels. To the east side, actually where I live is a beautiful community of Winter Park with it's downtown area - Park Avenue (www.winterpark.org). Lots of strolling and eating places there, as well as a fabulous Tiffany museum!

Thanks all!
Mount Dora is a perfect suggestion. I was actually there a few years ago and had no idea it was on the way. My hubbie has never been before, so it will be a great stopover!
