Inter-island flight Maui to Kauai

Inter-island flight Maui to Kauai

We will be in Maui and kauaii in June. We are looking for round trip tickets between the two islands. The best deal seems to be on Island Air and it is a direct flight. I have not seen much mention of Island Air as an option for inter-island flights. Does anyone have any opinion on Island Air that might help in our decision?

used it and it was fine. was island hoping and used both island air and hawaiian and saw no difference between the airlines. these interisland flights are kinda like bus rides except you check your baggage!

We took IslandAir last May, Kauai to Maui. It was fine, and it was the cheapest for us, too. I believe they codeshare with a larger inter-island airline, b/c I could have booked tickets on the other airline as well (but this was more expensive).

Thanks for your help. I was a little nervous to make a reservation with them since I did not see much mention of Island Air and they were cheaper!

We went to Kauai from Maui on IslandAir in April. Everything was fine, we went "non-stop" to Lihue, on a morning flight. Actually, we enjoyed the flight, it was even fun, as it seems the slower speeds and lower altitude let you enjoy the views out the window, more than a jet. Would do it again in a minute!...except for trying to check in at the Aloha counters, where IslandAir is not located. Its a long haul to the "commuter terminal" from there, so don't make this mistake!

Thanks for the additional information. We will also be flying from Kauai to Maui on our day of deaparture. Does anyone have a thought on how much time we should allow between our Island Air arrival time and our American departure time?

I flew on Hawaiian to Kauai and Interisland back - given the choice again I would Not use Interisland. Not only do they have enforced time limits (i.e. we got a talkign to for not being there 90 minutes ahead) but their baggage limits are rediculous - only 44 pounds a person. We ended up paying an extra 40 bucks for our bags. The overhead bins are so small that anything other than a small bag will need to be checked. Other than that, a plane ride is a plane ride.
