Inside Passage Cruise
We are taking a cruise thru Inside Passage in Alaska then spending several days in Anchorage. Would like suggestions on best tours and things to see in Juneau, Sitka, Ketchikan, and other stops up the passage.Only have daylight hours in most stops. Also best sights in Anchorage.

If your cruise includes Skagway, go on the train ride that follows the route the miners took. I think it really helps your appreciation if you read about the area first. We had picked up some books in Seattle and I think one was called Klondike Women. It is hard to imagine the hardships and cruelty during the gold rush. Anchorage is nice but a drive to Seward is really worth it. The scenery is spectacular and along the way you can stop to view wildlife. Watch salmon fishermen. Take the tram up Mt Alyeska. Stop at the cannery to taste varieties of smoked salmon and get some for friends back home. Right now it's daylight until 10PM in Anchorage! We took a trolley tour in Anchorage and that was a nice overview.

In Juneau, we liked seeing Mendenhall Glacier, which is not far from downtown. We also enjoyed Wings of Alaska's float plane trip over the Juneau Icefields to Taku Glacier Lodge, on an island. There they served King salmon cooked over alder logs on an outdoor grill. It was my 1st float plane trip but I was relaxed because they gave us headsets with an informative narration. And you can't beat the overhead view of the glaciers.
Don't know what time of year you will be there, but in the summer you'd love the HUGE bright flowers in Anchorage. The city plants 520 flowerbeds and has 100,000 hanging baskets. Notice the wild onions growing on the sod roof of the visitor's information center. The Anchorage Museum of History & Art has well-dine displays about the earthquake, pipeline, early life in Alaska and Native cultures. Also enjoyed the Alaska Native Heritage Center. Best dining we found in town was the Glacier Brewhouseon W. 5th Ave.
