Input from others re: recovery
I might have to have my gall bladder removed (laparoscopically) - and I know this doesn't sound travel related, but it is.
Have any of you had your gb out and if so, please..how long before you feel comfortable enough to walk a lot? Am going to WDW 12/23 and don't know if it will be enough time. With my sinceres thanks in advance.

Carolyn, everyone heals differently and there are so many variables that can effect your speed of recovery. That said, a friend and her significant other just went on a cruise to the Panama Canal two weeks after gall bladder surgery. The patient even went back to work on Monday after surgery on Friday. What does your doctor predict? You certainly don't want to be at WDW and have another attack if you opt to wait.
I have had a gall bladder attack and can empathise with you on the pain. Good luck on your surgery and on your trip.

I`m 54 and had my GB out in July..the surgery went fine but had pain from the incision in the middle of my stomach..slept on the couch(comfortable) for a month due to my bed being a water bed..all the other incisions were not painful..was not permitted to drive for 2 weeksbut was allowed to ride with a pillow across my stomach in case of an accident..I wouldn`t have felt like a trip to WDW..but my Doctor gave me pills to take in case I had a GB attack before I had my surgery..my Gb was diseased and turned and I had really bad attacks(like childbirth)..it`s up to you if you and your DOC think it`s okay(I`d ask him his opinion)it took me about 6 wks to get back to par..but maybe it was just me..all people heal differently..good luck..

I had this done about four years ago with same procedure. I was home same day, up and about and back to work in 1 day. It is no big deal very simple.
You might ask your doctor for more info. I was told that they don't know for sure they can use laparoscopic surgery until they get inside of you...if it is too big to get out than you will get sliced open and then you are looking at many weeks of recovery. Ask him about that.
