Inn at Kennebunkport, Maine needed??

All,

Any suggestions as to a quiet and elegant Inn located in or around the Kennebunkport, Maine area. We are looking for an elegant Inn that we can spend a relaxing weekend in Feb. One with a nice fireplace and good breakfasts to lounge around and be pampered. Any good suggestions??

The White Barn Inn. Elegant, romantic and with one of the most outstanding restaurants I have ever been to.

I second the opinion for the white barn inn - I have never been there although I saw a show on the travel channel that highlighted it and it looked wonderful - especially the restaurant. Hope to go there myself.

The Tides Inn in Cape Porpoise, The Ocean View on Kennebunk Beach (I think it's owned by the people who own the White Barn Inn), and there's a couple of inns right in Kennebunkport; check the Chamber of Commerce there or the Yankee magazine website (www.newengland.com). The Kennebunkport Inn (the old section) is quite nice. You really can't go wrong...

and if you want to go out to a WONDERFUL breakfast while you're there, try The Green Heron, near the Colony Hotel and the marina where President Bush keeps his boat...

There's a piano bar at the Kennebunkport Inn--just about every night. A woman singer/player is there Friday and Saturdays, and a man the rest of the week...

I've stayed at The Maine Stay Inn in Kennebunkport. I believe they have at least half there rooms have fireplaces. The Inn is elegant and provided me with exceptional hospitality. I believe they have a web site that you can check out all the rooms. Also The Captain Lord Mansion and the 1802 house are excellent choices.

Agree with all of the above. White Barn Inn is exquisite. We very much enjoyed spending the evening in the piano bar at the Kennebunkport Inn, but can't recommend staying there...All of the other inns mentioned are also nice. And, breakfast (if not included with your room wherever you stay) is awesome at the Green Heron (reservations advised!).

Look no further.....The White Barn Inn is absolutely lovely. Service is very upscale. I had heard so much about the Inn and I think my room expectations were a bit deflated when they opened the door to our room. It was a room in the main inn and I thought it was a bit small. It was! But it was lovely and I'd go back it a minute. If you can get a room in the cottage they have fireplaces if not, take whatever you can get. Enjoy!
