Inn Above Tide in Sausalito

We are interested at staying at this inn for our Honeymoon and would love to know any information about it (i.e. rooms, service, convenience to San Francisco). It looks beautiful from the brochure, but you never can tell! Thanks in advance!

I love this area of SF Bay but haven't been to the inn you mention. Here are links to one of the most romantic locations I have been to:

I was in Sausalito last March for an afternoon during a visit to the San Francisco area. I didn't stay at the Inn Above Tide, but can vouch for its spectacular location and views across the bay. It looked very nice. As for Sausalito, there were shops to poke around and a few nice restaurants, but it didn't appear that there would be a lot to do short of hopping in the car and making day trips around the area. My recommendation for an ideal honeymoon spot would be a little further south than you are planning -- Carmel & the Monterey Peninsula.

The Inn Avove Tide is marvelous! The rooms are lovely... the views *incredible*. We stayed there for a night in the summer of 1996. The only drawback is that it is pricey [was $200 a night back then]. We cracked up the front desk. They asked if we had a car... we had come by ferry from SF! They have a webpage: http://www.placestostay.com/SAU-Tide/ Sausalito is wonderful wandering... Be sure to eat at Mikaya in the Madrona Inn. Oh! and get a room on the top floor at IAT... you have a skylight. I think all rooms have fireplaces. In anycase we are plotting how to get back there... it was romantic restful and altogether a wonderful experience..

Can't add anything to above post re: the Inn above the Tides, but I can say that I think Sausalito is wonderful! There is a lot to do there IF you like shopping! As for convenience to San Franciso, yes, it is very convenient. A ferry runs to San Francisco regularly (it serves as a commuter line). For another off-beat way to get to San Franciso, walk! Yes, San Francisco is within walking distance of Sausalito. One can hike up the road to the Golden Gate Bridge, and walk across (the walking traffic (as opposed to the biking traffic) seems to stick to the east side of the bridge, facing SF). On the other side, you'll reach Ft. Point. Crissy Field and the Presido is right there, for some great scenery. It's a bit far from there to the tourist areas, but it is a change of pace! Another idea-a ferry trip to Angel Island. This medium-sized island is a state park, and from the top of its 700 foot hill, the views of SF are unsurpassed! Have fun!

We stayed at the Inn Above the Tide, and it is fantastic...however please be warned that not all rooms are created equal. If this is your honeymoon, ask for the largest room on the second floor. Although all the rooms have neat furniture, there are some rooms so small that you can not turn around!
The folks at the desk are very helpful, but give yourself lots of time if you are going back to the airport.
It took 15 minutes to get the car, and 15 minutes to check out.
We did not mind, especially since this is California, and fresh coffee and rolls are set out in a parlor for the guests...
Its very much like a "Martha's Vineyard" feel, witht the view you want of ASan Francisco.

Congratulations and Have fun.
