About the tule fog: one thing you will learn quickly is to schedule flights between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.! That's the best window on foggy days.

We live 15 minutes south of Sacramento, and I have sometimes thought of moving there, possibly to the area along Fair Oaks Blvd. Love all those gourmet shops, not to mention Corti Bros.

Hi Sharon, good to hear back from you!
I don't know how you are doing schedule wise but I am sort of tied up until after the holidays. Thanksgiving, getting ready for Christmas, daughters birthday, having 14 year grandson for the weekend daughter and SIL will celebrate their anniversary in SF, friends coming to spend the weekend here after Thanskgiving etc. All real fun occassions of course but that with a few dinner appointments to still be made with outoftown friends for dinners has me pretty much tied up between now and NY's

Personally I would prefer after the heavy winter storms have passed, I hate driving on I-80 when it is storming especially with all the idiots that don't know how to drive properly (did I say that? LOL)

Anyway, I am glad you posted because I sure did not want you to feel like I was ignorning your idea of a GTG. I do look forward to meeting you.

Hi Underhill, thank for posting about the best time for flights out of Sacramento airport during foggy times. I was wondering about this the other day. I have only started using Sacramento for flights since I moved to Vacaville. See..on Fodor's one doesn't even have to ask the questions and they get the answer, LOL. Take care, hope you are feeling well now.

Hi Sharon, a GTG in Sacramento will be fun. I am suppose to go to Portland sometime in February or something. I was thinking maybe we could arrange it after that. I would like to stay overnight in Sacramento, no driving home after drinking!! Think Kal was thinking the same thing. It will be fun! Glad we connected up. Have a good weekend.

Faina,
I'd KILL to get you in a pair of shorts at a GTG!!!

All for a SacTown GTG. Just shot off a note to MichY about it.

Still waiting to see if sunbum and daughter needs help moving. Strong back-weak mind yah know!

L'Italy...Priceline's 4* in d'town are Sheraton and Hyatt. We'd be getting a room, too. Taxi's pretty cheap in the d'town zone.

U'hill...I always try for the 1st plane out because it's usually there already from the night before.

The REAL tule fog starts in Stockton and goes down to Fresburg/B'town.
YUCK! That stuff is THICK!!!

Hi Kal, thanks for hotel info..a GTG will be fun, but I won't really be avaialble until say March if that will work for everyone else. Good comment on the first plane of the morning. I do always take the shuttle bus from VV to the Sacto airport..hate being in the early morning tule fog though. Well won't be going to Portland until Feb. so will see what the weather is like. Take care, and have a great weekend. And be good

I'm not dear one honest. It is just that I had to postpone my trip to Portland from November to February..due to various reasons. And not sure exactly when in February that will be so just mentioned March as I will be here for sure

But if all of you want the GTG earlier I will sure understand. I don't expect everyone to work around my schedule.

Kal, btw, after spending months looking for one I "think" I finally found a great Painting Contractor. I say with fingers crossed. That will get one frustration out of the way!
Have a fun weekend!

Glowbug, don't worry, my husband went from suspicion and gealousy to "get on-line and leave the TV for me!", yours will go through the same stages. Right, Kal

And shorts will have to wait. There is a "Summer of Love" exhibit, we went to see the photos as we've missed all that 60s fun, not our fault!

This gave me an idea. Let's have a themed GTG, not even a GTG but a "Be-In" like in the 60s gathering of the hippies.

Tie-die clothes (hey, maybe even T-die shorts??) smoke what you can drink what EasyTraveler brings LOL any "Bastardo" left? I just love the name

Hello,

I live in the Bay Area and am considering moving to Sac. I love the Land Park and Curtis Park area. I am thinking of transferring my equity from the Bay Area to Sac. Of course, I cannot commute to work so I am thinking of getting an apt here and telecommuting one day a week (thurs-mon in Sac-- the rest in Bay Area)...

Probably sounds complicated, but I like it up there-- it seems a little quieter and I could get a little more backyard for my $$ and even a home that has a more gracious feel.

Kal- I was really just kidding about
having you help us move - hard to ask a good friend to do that let alone a stranger- but thanks ! I think that helping people move and watching friends pets while they are on vacation is a true test of frienship.

Looks like she is able to hire someone to help unload through U-Haul or some moving company suggested by her company relocaters- so hope that works out. She really only has a couple of heavy pieces of furniture

She was in Sac for the weekend and found a place in the downtown area which she seems very happy with-
Signed papers for the apt and immediatly
took off for Napa for some winetasting-
she had not been there before and was quite impressed with that-

We will be arriving on the 19th I think-
Thanks for all your info on the Sac area- will certainly be asking for more in the near future as I start making trips out to Sac to visit -
Just learned that Amtrack has an overnight train from Eugene- might be a good option - can sleep all night and wake up in the am in Sacramento -

hopefully see you soon

LoveItaly,

Doing much better, thanks--the ulcers have healed, and I am beginning to eat normally again--although I find that spicy stuff is not the best thing right now. And I do miss the ice cream!!!

sunbum...."You know you've been on Fodor's too long"...

I was set to have my Saturday morning "Kal's Klowns & Koffee Krew" help out.

Let Mrs Kal and I know if you'll need a drink after a hard day of moving. If not we may get stuck with "il famglia" again. [-o<

The 19th will probably be our last weekend of rest before our Holiday Season cranks up...then the next thing you know, COPPERTONE-The TRUE aroma of Hawaii!!!!
