Info on Guavaween?

Has anyone been to Guavaween in Ybor City? I know the basic info, just wondering if there are any tips I should know. Also, how lenient are they on costumes (as far as showing skin)?

I lived in Tampa for five years and Guavaween is pretty outrageous. It is pretty much "anything goes." I don't know how old you are, but it got younger and younger each year. The kids might annoy you after awhile. But the first year I went it was great fun.

Ah yes,
Guavaween! I remember it well. It is across town from Papayaville. Don't know much about the skin, I generally go directly for the meat.

I'm in my late 20's...by kids, do you mean little kids? The impression I got is that there is "FamilyFest" during the day for the families and then the real party begins at night with the parade.
Is this anything like FantasyFest in Key West in terms of outrageousness?

What/where is Guavaween? I've never heard of it.

The city is making concerted efforts to clean up some of the seamier aspects of town and my sincere hope is that Guavaween gets a good shot of Clorox as well. Gasparilla, earlier this year, did. They are finally recognizing that perhaps this isn't the best image to project. Costumes used to be imaginative and in good fun. In recent years, imagination has been lacking and the "good fun" has gone right along with it.

Karen,
You've it. Little kids and tons of them, 5, 6 yr olds at the max, everywhere, annoying, pesky little no-see-ums in sneakers. Don't come, you'll hate it!
