priceline!

We stayed at the Sheraton Fisherman's Wharf for only $70.

Look at www.biddingfortravel.com to get help.

Try Hotel Del Sol. It is within walking distance to most of the tourist sites and is clean and comfortable. It is painted in bright colors and has a nice pool surrounded by palm trees. It isn't fancy, but it is a gem in a city full of expensive chain hotels. Best thing of all, it is cheap!

I recently booked Galleria Park Hotel. I haven't stayed there yet, but researched prices, locations and reviews and was satisfied it would be nice. I think it was $109/night through hotelres.com

please add - i prefer boutique hotels to chains so it depends on your pref. priceline does work very well, but tends to work more with chain hotels.

Vienna, We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express (Fisherman's Wharf) last year and enjoyed it, and a reasonable rate. We started to stay at the Cow Hollow Motor Inn, but decided for the kids sake to move closer to FW. However, when we walked past the Cow Hollow Motor Inn it looked just fine and I would consider it on another trip. It gets good reviews for a moderate hotel... Vacationmom

The Pacific Heights Inn (a motel) near the Union Street Shops has clean, quiet rooms and free parking. It is simple, but it is a good deal. The "breakfast" does not amount to anything.

I second the Galleria Park...very nice (small rooms, but cool and clean)...great location for tourists. Last time I was there they had a free wine reception each night...small workout room and a very boutique feel about the place...more interesting than a chain hotel, and not at all seedy or budget in feel.

Also check out the Hotel Triton. It is nearby and I belive it is owned by the same people.

You can get great deals at Hotelres.com and also if you are careful and use biddingfortravel.com as a reference the Hilton off of Union Square and others nearby can be had for very cheap using priceline!

I've used biddingfortravel and priceline with great success, but I've also stayed at the Hotel Bijou for $99. It was a smallish, cute boutique hotel. It was in a convenient location, but on the edge of a bad neighborhood. I felt safe staying there--no problems.

What area of San Francisco will you be visiting? And will you have a car to park?
