Inexpensive Garden Dist Hotel
Are there any "inexpensive" hotels in the NO Garden District? I called the Garden District Hotel because they had an internet
special for 49.00 but they said they were booked up in October. Does anyone have any suggestions for that time of year and location? I am easily satisfied with a "no frills" hotel. I'm not fond of the French Quarter but would consider something at a reasonable rate.

Unfortunately, it'll be hard to find a decent yet inexpensive place in October. It's the busiest month of the year for the NO hospitality industry! However, you're wise to plan ahead. For B&Bs in the Garden District, try www.bbnola.com and search the neighborhoods.
Good luck!

The Garden District is a very small, distinct area. Will anything uptown do or do you specifically need/want to be in the Garden District. I defer to Michael Brecker about Sully Mansion but as for uptown places, try Maison St. Charles, which really isn't very far uptown, and you'll probably be told it's in the Lower Garden District, which really isn't a district at all - just something real estate agents made up, but I recommended it to friends who said it was just what they were looking for. There also a place called St. Charles Guesthouse on Prytania which falls a few blocks short of the Garden District at 504/523-6556. There's also the Prytania Inn also on Prytania a few blocks downtown of the St. Charles Guesthouse at 504/566-1515. Hope some of this helps. Oh - check out the Kats and Rats website that someone on this board mentioned to me - they have lots of info on B&B's in the city.
