We stayed at the Salibury hotel last March (www.nycsalisbury.com). It was a very nice hotel, many floors recently renovated (our room was recently renovated and a suite), near Carnegie Hall, Central Park, and very good restaurants. And I think is was around $200. The staff was very helpful, always had great recommendations on where to go, and I would not stay anywhere else.

Just booked the Millennium Broadway for $133/TOTAL! through Octopustravel.com (which was a link from tripadvisor.com). Thought that was a pretty good deal. Got the same hotel three years ago for $90/night (not including their fees, via Priceline), so more like $100+ night. Rates go down in NYC in the summer, it appears.

To inthechips, have you used octopustravel before? I looked at it but, have never heard of it? I'm wondering if it's reputable. Some prices are for requests and they recommend you don't call the actual hotel because, they won't have your name until 72 hours before you arrive. I'm leary of that.
