In Maui- the Kea Lani , grand waliea or four seasons hotel?
I will be going to Kuaui, maui, and oahu in May for my honeymoon and was confused about where to stay. I am between the kea lani, grand waliea and four seasons. Does anyone have any opinions on this. I would like total luxury but not a stuffy atmosphere.
Thank you!
Thank you!

All 3 are GREAT...top notch!
I wouldn't stay any of them is stuffy and all are high luxury...
4 Seasons is the least Disney-eque and will likely have the fewest kids
Grand Wailea is the most Disney-esque and will have the most kids
I prefer Kea Lani because I like the total laid back, no problem, easy luxury of the place and it seems to have the right mix of elegance and charm...but it is all about what you want and you can't go wrong with any of these choices!

I had the same problem and chose the Four Season's because it had the least likelyhood to have children. Because the Kea Lani has all suites and villas, there are many more children there and I've been told that their pool and grounds aren't "grand" enough for the number of guests that can be there.
It all depends on the time of year. I'm honeymooning in July so I knew there would be many hildren there and I wanted the hotel with the least children. If you're going in, say, November, children won't be much of a consideration for you.
I've never been the Hawaii but many friends have told me that the Four Seasons is the best in terms of service, rooms, restaurants, grounds, etc... It's very luxurious and casual at the same time. I've heard mixed reviews about the Grand Wailea and the Kea Lani but everyone seems to love the Four Seasons.

I just got back and have been to all these hotels. The Grand Wailea is magnificent. The Four Seasons had wall to wall people (and Kids) around the pool. Too, too packed. Either Grand Wailea or Hyatt Regenency in Kaanapali. These two are the most beautiful. The Four Seasons has a Roman-type architecture while the Grand Wailea and Hyatt have blended and enhanced the island motif. Wonderful restaurants as well - Swan Court at Hyatt, Plantation at Plantation Estates (just beyond Kapulua) and Roy's. Email if you have other questions.

I second the Grand Wailea. Just absolutely fantastic all 'round.
Definitly "total luxury", but maybe a little stuffy. My wife and I were going to be married in the chapel there, but due to the "logistics" of having a wedding in Hawaii we decided against it.
We have stayed there since and really enjoyed it. With the Spa, dance club, water sports, fantastic grounds and almost overwhelming hotel located in a quiet area near some of the islands best beaches (Makena), I doubt you could do better.

Hands down I would vote for Four Seasons. We stayed there last year on our first trip to Maui. Conde Nast Traveler rates it again this year as one of their top resorts, if that means anything to you. No place will pamper you more. We walked around and into Grand Wailea. It is opulent, but was actually a bit too much for us; reminded us of a resort you would find in Vegas. Four Seasons is classier and more subdued. Food and service at Four Seasons can't be beat. Don't know about Kea Lani.Four Seasons was not stuffy at all. It was total luxury.
