Impact of Peace Summit on D.C.?
Just got off the phone with my sister, who lives in Bowie, and she rattled off a list of about 100 things that will go wrong with our trip to D.C. this coming week because of the Peace Summit. For those of you who are not hypochondriacs, is there a projected impact of the Summit on D.C.? I understand the hub of the meeting is scheduled for Annapolis but that other meetings will be held in D.C.. Just curious to know what the realistic expectations might be on transportation, etc.

I don't expect any impact at all. It's taking place in Annapolis, which is a good hour from DC. Congress isn't in session, so there will be significantly less traffic.
Even if you are traveling every day from Bowie, I can't imagine much of an impact. This kind of stuff is old hat for DC.
What is your sister concerned about?

Thank you! My sister tends to blow things way out of proportion, just wanted to verify with people in the know. We're actually staying at the Marriott Renaissance on 9th--there's no way I could stay with my sister. Love from a distance, ya know? Thank you, again.

Given that the annual demonstrations at the World Bank don't really do THAT much to traffic, a Peace Summit in Annapolis will make no difference that you'll see, unless you're delayed for a couple of minutes by a motorcade. I work downtown and this hasn't even crossed my mind.
