If go from Chicago to L.A. by car, how long would it take?

Hi all

I'm planning a driving trip from Chicago to L.A. It's not a leisure trip, both of us are to take care of some business in L.A. I do not wanna push myself so hard. If we are to drive from, say, 9am - 9pm, how long would it take us there?

Thanks heaps!

RAk

I'd say approximately 4 days

It's 2050 miles.
Easy interstate driving, wide open spaces with relatively few cops overall.
Even if you drove 12 hours a day averaging just 60 MPH (which would take into account some stops) it would take 34 hours, or 3 days.

My sister and I drove from Milwaukee to San Francisco a few years ago, which was approximately the same distance.

We took four days and felt like that was pushing it - keep in mind you'll need to stop for lunch/snacks a few times a day to keep sane... Maybe if you are better drivers than we were, you could get it done in three days - but I would definitely prefer traveling 8-9 hours a day over a four day period more.

Thanks to you all for advices

Does anyone have any other advices on what town/city we should make a stop at, we don't look forward to anything but would rather prefer one more interesting town over the others if they happen to be nearby.
