Tomsd - you're probably thinking of Ledson in the north end of Sonoma's Valley of the Moon.
I would never consider wine touring in the Napa Valley in July/August. Crawling with tourists and crawling along one of the two roads, cars fighting bicycles and bicycles fighting cars.
You might want to read the book "A Tale of Two Valleys" to get a perspective on Sonoma vs. Napa. It's about 10 years old, but still applicable.
If price is an issue, when visiting Sonoma, stay in Glen Ellen, about 10 miles away. Much cheaper. Just got back yesterday from Glen Ellen. Great food at The Fig Cafe, with no corkage fee.
