Has anyone stayed here before? How is the surrounding area?

The hotel is on a main thoroughfare but is set back with lots of lawn and shrubbery so it is quiet and attractive. It is one of the best hotels in the area, if not the best. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

I don't mind it being on a main thoroughfare, and I do know that Greenwich is considered very upscale, but again, how nice is this part of Greenwich? Thanks!

It's NOT in a nice part of Greenwich. The surrounding area is very commercial, sort of a main drag with lots of businesses on it and fairly ugly.

You need to cab to get to Greenwich Ave., the "nice" main/shopping street in Greenwich or any nice residential areas. Greenwich has many beautiful areas, but the Hyatt is not in one of them.

There are no hotels in the pretty areas of Greenwich. The Homestead Inn is a very posh place with eccellent food. I have eaten there and understand the rooms are wonderful. The Harbor House Inn (B&B) and Stanton House Inn (B&B) are both in the area, but I know nothing about them. Information is available on the web about these places.

If you want to visit CT you should steer clear of places like Greenwich and go somewhere that tourists are welcomed. Non-residents are not welcome in public areas such as parks and beaches and even the town green, as evidenced by the new $308 fee imposed upon non-redicents for use of Greedwich 'public' spaces.

The Greenwich Harbor inn is really cute (although I don't know if it has been completely renovated yet), on the water and walking distance from the train station and Greenwich avenue. It's a very upscale area and very pretty in the summer. The Stanton in is also walking distance from downtown but not quite as close. Norwalk has a cute downtown. Stamford has a fun nightlife and a large indoor mall.
