Hyatt Las Vegas
Has anyone stayed at the Hyatt Regency Lake Las Vegas that just opened in December? They had a grand opening on January 14,2000 and I understand the resort is beautiful.
I have not been to Las Vegas for about 5 years -- I had the opportunity to go to Vegas (staying at the Hyatt) or staying on the East Coast. Naturally, I jumped at the chance to go.
I also understand it's about a 30-40 minute drive down to the Strip. A bit of a bummer, especially if I am up until 3AM playing blackjack, but we will have a car. My wife and I have stayed at Hyatts and we have enjoyed them in the past. OK. My questions:
1). Any feedback on the Hyatt and its casino?
2). Is there a better time of day to drive down to the Strip to avoid traffic jams?
3). Anything I should be worried about when driving in the middle of the night back to the hotel?
4). We will be going in early June. Just how hot is it going to be? (high 90s/low 70s?).
Many thanks in advance! Also, how soon can I make reservations to see "O" ? Sam

Well, for the benefit of the person who will be going there....
I had a wonderful stay there back in June. The Hyatt outdoes itself with accommodations and the casino, while small, is small and friendly.
Traffic to the Strip in the middle of the week was not too bad. The only traffic jam we had was trying to get to the Bellagio to see "O" once we were near the strip (about 6:00 pm). It took us nearly 1/2 hour to go a lousy 3 blocks and that was on one of the side streets! "O" was fantastic...the best show I have ever seen with the possible exception of the original Phantom of the Opera in NY -- but the two are completely different.
The only caveat I would give is that directions (Hyatt's or Mapquest's) from the Airport to the hotel may be accurate...it's just that a few signs are missing along the way. It took us two times to figure out where the "hidden" signs were to get us to the resort. We blamed the problem on the city...not on the Hyatt.
Do not try to get to the Hyatt at night or you will be wandering in the desert!
Enjoy!!! SAM

Thanks for the feedback Sam. Are the restaurants around the Hyatt or did you feel you had to go into the Strip every night to eat because it was remote. Any good restaurants you would recommend? We were also planning on seeing "O" so glad to know you enjoyed it. Thanks.
