Hyatt Chicago to Homewood Suites
I am attending a convention at the Hyatt Regency Chicago this summer. Because we're traveling with young (aged 4 and younger) children, we're considering not staying at the Hyatt and instead moving to a hotel with suites and kitchens/kitchenettes. I've read good things about the Homewood Suites. (we're open to suggestions for other hotels that are kid-friendly that may be closer to the Hyatt). My question is: what route should I take to walk from the Homewood Suites to the Hyatt and approximately how long should I allot for the trip between the two hotels? Thanks in advance. (p.s. my husband intends to get into as many Cubs games as possible - is it true that there is a train stop near Homewood that goes to Wrigley? If so, where will he get on and off and again, about how mych travel time between Homewood and Wrigley?)

Walk east to Michigan Avenue, then take a right (south), cross the river, make a left on Wacker, and the Hyatt will be on your right.
The only tricky part is that Grand runs under Michigan, so you'll have to take the stairs up. Have one of the valet guys point you to where you need to go.
However, if Nordstrom's is open, you can go in the back door (across the street and to the left from the hotel entrance), go up the escalator, walk out through the front door of Nordstrom's into the mall, keep walking until you get to Michigan Avenue, then make a right, cross the river, make a left on Wacker, and the hotel will be on your right.
Depending on how fast you walk, 10-15 minutes. But if you stop to look at shoes...could take you awhile.
The redline station is basically outside the hotel's front door.

There's an Embassy Suites east of Michigan Ave. towards Navy Pier. If you stayed there, you could take Lower Columbus Drive over the river and enter into the Hyatt directly from Lower Columbus.
This would knock over a quarter mile from your walk.

The Homewood Suites is a fine choice, but I agree, I'd check into the Embassy Suites. I'd also look at the Omni on Michigan Ave. which is an all suite hotel, though I don't know about kitchenettes.
Getting to Wrigley is very easy. You simply pick up the Red Line at Grand (at the intersection of State and Grand) and head north (towards Howard). You will get off at the Addison stop. You will be able to see the stadium from the El, and you can also follow the hordes of Cubs fans. Travel time - 30 minutes maybe. It's always worth it to leave early and wander around Wrigleyville before a game and grab a bite or a beer at one of the many bars in the area, or just people watch.
Have fun!

I checked into the Embassy Suites mentioned by two posters and it is NOT available our dates. Thanks for the suggestion. I will also check the Omni - any others? Plus, Nords is not open in time for me to cut through in the mornings. So - guess I'll be taking the long way. As to Wrigley, we only have tickets to one game and with my husband's passion for the Cubs, I am sure he will be there early each day looking for tickets outside of Wrigley. Any thoughts on purchasing tix from brokers ahead of time versus outside before game in terms of cost? Thanks again.
