How's road from Leadville to I-70?

I am thinking of taking it from Salida to Lincoln NE (in one day). I have taken the route through Colorado Springs and thought I'd try this route, looks very scenic. The driving time is roughly the same.

Is the road narrow with drop-offs? I don't do those very well. Easier than Million $ Highway?

I'm assuming you mean hwy 91 from Leadville to Copper Mtn? It is a nice drive, pretty scenery and easier than the Million Dollar Highway. It is not one of those mountain drives with the tight switchbacks and drop-offs.

We drove up to Leadville a few years ago. The road was actually nice. I was nervous, expecting the worst, but it wasn't nearly as bad as some of the other roads we have traveled on.

It's a very easy mostly straight highway with only one real climb and not much traffic.

just about 2 weeks ago we returned from Co. Drove over Independence Pass--some parts scary. then into twin lakes and on to route 70 via 91 and through Leadville--pretty flat I was happy to see the windy mountains pretty much end.
For Colorado, this road was easy. Enjoy!
