There aren't any hairpin turns and absolutely no 10-20 mph sections.

I think that the Devil's Slide section is down to 20mph.

Yeah - around Devil's Slide the speed limit is low, but I still think that Ellis is confused.

The entire route is now open, though, isn't it?

No, no bbqboy. Not everyone is sightseeing. Some of us are going to and from work or running errands and are driven to distraction by tourists who drive 15-20 miles under the posted speed limit.

Please, please, please remember that while you may be on vacation, those of us who live and work on Highway 1 (and it IS Highway 1, not PCH) may need to get somewhere!

Best advice for tourists - pull over, especially if you see me behind you!

Best,
Lisa

There isn't really anywhere to pull over though!

Hi emd3,

About 25 years ago, the powers that be painted over almost all the broken lines on Hwy. 1, preventing us from passing for long stretches at a time, adding to everyone's annoyance.

CalTrans said it would provide a lot more pullouts since we could no longer legally pass but I agree, there are not enough of them.

emd, there are plenty of pull-outs, which are routinely ignored by many of the people to whom lisa is referring. People, if there's a line of cars behind you, move over and let them pass!
