I recently saw "Wicked" in NY and loved it.

I would NEVER spend $300 for any show.

Simply ridiculous.

I offered $300 for two. Face value is $75 or maybe more. I don't think $150 per ticket is too much, do you? Anyway, will keep trying. Since I haven't seen the show it is hard to gauge how much is too much. Think I will stop at $300 for two though. It could get out of hand, IMO. Thanks for your help, all.

Tickets with a face value of $75 each for Wicked are probably pretty far back in the theater!

Well when it comes to Wicked I got very lucky. The brother of a girl I work with knows someone in the B.O. and I was able to get 2 tickets, 5th row for face value. No extra charges. This was last March in Chicago. Personally I think buying tickets thru Ticketmaster is legalized scalping so my limits for overpayment are small. Good luck.

This one person selling is wanting $350 for two tickets on row V. What would you do?

My tix on Row r were about $75 face value.

HowardR made a good point. If you were to buy them for NYC, face value would be a lot higher ($110 & charges for a date in January).

So, they are probably selling the SD tix for double face value.

If you are asking me, the Wicked queen, yes, I would buy them.

Just make sure they are "real" printed tickets. Mine were printouts of a webpage and that type is only good for the first scan. A mother and daughter were turned around at the door. Evidently, someone else had entered with printouts with the same barcode. By the way, they didn't seem too upset, so I wondered if they were just trying to beat the system.

Chances are, you will be able to buy tickets at or near face value nearer the show, but if you want to be sure to go - I'd buy them.

MAKE SURE YOU BUY THE CD BEFORE YOU GO! It is amazing how much "knowing" the music beforehand added to the enjoyment.

Ok, I'll step up and admit it. I paid $450 total for two seats dead in the middle of the center on row H when Kristin and Idina were in the show, after it was popular (love that tune) and just after the awards.

It was wonderful and worth every penny. I had seen it previously w/bad seats and wanted to see it again. I was glad I did.

I paid $250 for 4th row seats to see Elton John at Caeser's Palace. If I want to see a show and it means a lot to me, I'll pay for the good seats. Those are the only two times I have ever paid that much for seats.

Oh, emd! You are my hero! GOOD FOR YOU! I wish I had been there to see K & I and would easily pay $450 to see them. Well, not easily, but I would pay it.

I seriously regret not seeing the show in NY with Kristin Chenowyth. And we were out of town when the touring company came to Atlanta (our nearest big city). We considered flying to Toronto for the weekend to see it (much, much cheaper than Chicago) but somehow we never did.

I want to see the show--someday---and so does my youngest son. We both read the book and LOVED it, as well as the sequel, Son of a Witch.

Heavens, I strongly suggest you read the book before you see the show. The book is wonderful, and will provide the full "backstory."

She opens in Sept. I'm actually holding a hotel room on points in October. Found an interesting rate to and from Tuscany (Pisa) with an overnight in London - so I held the hotel room. But, I'd fly over in a heartbeat - if I could get a good rate - to see Idina. Can't find anyone who is interested - even my biggest Wicked Atlanta friends.

I decided to drop the deals. There were no deals. Everyone was trying to get the price up. Same old thing. My last email said his last offer was for $400 for the pair. So now I am emailing them back and telling them I can't afford to go up that high. Just another game.

The show is sold out so they know they can get rediculous prices for them. Too bad for me.

I will check back closer to the play, but just can't go that high. Thanks all for your help.

The best part of having a theatre major for a daughter is she knows what to see and when to see it She got us to the original Spamalot production, Nine (which I personally loved), original Hairspray production ... I LOVE NY theatre!

Seeing Kristin and Idina will always ruin us for any other leads - but hey, we're giving it another whirl in September in Seattle! (Sounds like we get two good leads there too - yay!)

inthechips2 - The original spamalot production was in Chicago.

Heavens - Wicked is very popular. It will certainly come again through the cities it hit the first time, so there should be opportunities to see it sometime in the future. Maybe something more reasonable will come up as you get closer to the show dates, but there will always be something in the future either way.

Beyond that, it all depends on how much you can afford the tickets at higher prices. For some it simply wouldn't be an option to pay that much, and for others the cost would make a pretty small impact on their life, so not really a big deal.

Was it? Well, shows you what I know (and why I rely on my daughter ...) although we did see it in NY with David Hyde Pierce and Hank Azaria so I guess I saw the original cast. Is that right? Great show and we of course hung out by the stage door with the rest of the groupies and spent some quality time with the boys after the show

inthechips2, you did see the same original production in New York as that Chicago production that jlm_mi mentions. I would assume that jlm_mi knows that when a show, like Spamalot, plays out of town before coming to New York , it's the same production performed by the same cast!
