How much was the T-shirt?

After you have been there and done that and you want to buy a T-shirt to remember the trip, how much did the T-shirt cost? Two examples below show that prices vary.

If you visit my hometown of Chapel Hill, NC and want to buy a UNC T-shirt, prices are high because of the licensing agreements for UNC logos. Also, the prices on Franklin Street (the main drag) are higher than at Wal-Mart.

At the other end of the price spectrum was this past weekend when I was in Myrtle Beach. I saw a store advertising 12 T-shirts for $10. Now I didn't check the quality of the merchandise but less than $1 per shirt is quite cheap.

So, how much do the T-shirts cost in your favorite destination?

Being something of a t-shirt aficionado myself, I tend to watch the prices. In Myrtle Beach area the decent ones were on sale for $9.99, although there were the two for $9.99 bargains at Sharks, Waves and Wind stores. The better t's in airports ... still running $18-$24 on average. In the St. Pete area, usually on sale 3 for $10. By the way, sometime it might be fun to relate the best messages on t's. One of my favorites came from Key West in 1989 - "Last Flight Out" showing an old clipper taking off over the palms ... in light blue. Holey as it is, still with me today. Ciao

For obvious reasons we have always looked for t-shirts in our travels with parrots.. We have just ended up collecting them all (Parrot Pop hates to part with them) and having a quilt made..wonderful memories..so instead of tossing them, find somebody handy who can make you a huge quilt.. A friend did it for her son in law who is a runner, took all of his event shirts and had a quilt made for his birthday..

I'll buy a T-shirt if I really, really like the looks of it. Don't remember what it cost, but my most expensive was from the Peabody in Orlando (a must-have for me).

And wouldn't consider anything that wasn't 100% cotton.

I got a great t-shirt at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, and it only cost about $800.00.

Last one I bought was less than $10 on the Santa Monica Pier. Good quality, 100% cotton--had a picture of an old woodie with a surfboard in it. Got it for young man, 11 years old who lives in Milwaukee. He loved it! Couple of years ago bought them 3 for $20 at the Waterfront in Seattle. Around here they run $15-20 for Stanford, Carmel, Monterey otters etc. There was a scam exposed a couple years ago in SF where vendors at Fisherman's Wharf were charging non English speaking tourists more than the rest of the world. Always be suspicious if the prices aren't posted for all to see. Some poor Japanese lady paid $75 for a sweatshirt, but I think the vendor now realizes the error of his ways.
