How is the border crossing?

Just wondering if anyone knows the approximate time it will take to cross from Fort Erie, Canada to Buffalo NY.
We are going to the airport and have never experienced a wait time prior to 9/11.
Just wondered what to expect.
---thanks

No additional delays due to 9/11. However, there may be a wait due to time of day, traffic, etc as this can be a very busy bridge, especially with truck traffic. Customs goes very quickly once you reach the booth.

Just drove over last Friday night. Crossed the Peace bridge to Ft. Erie around 8:00 p.m. and drove right up to customs (had some great Chinese food at Happy Jacks). Returned to Buffalo via the Rainbow Bridge (the one closest to the casino) around midnight and, again, drove right up to customs. I guess it really depends on time of day. Before 9/11 there really was quite a problem (and I think there still is) with truck traffic. We're supposed to build a new bridge, but still fighting over what it should look like. Try calling Canadian Customs at the Peace Bridge beforehand.

Laura, ----- I have to agree with Cheryl and Liz, no wait at all. Now - if you go at between 4-6PM on a weekday, you may have a wait.

We sailed right through. No problems getting in or out. The Canadian Customs people are so nice. I am not saying the US people are not, but I find them to always have a smile on their faces.

Have fun.

The farther we get from 9/11 the faster the crossings seem to go. Went back and forth new years eve day and about a week later. no waits, no problems. expect waits during typical rush hours, but nothing extraordinary. dont forget to stop at the Duty Free store-great deals on perfumes, liquers, etc. dont bring cuban cigars into the us thought

You can also check the Customs web site which has a section on waiting times (broken by commercial and passenger) for the land borders. This would give you an idea of what times of day generally have the longest lines. The website is: www.customs.gov
